John Grisham’s The Firm, a 1991 blockbuster novel about bad guys in really good suits, was perfectly tailored for the movies—a deal Tom Cruise closed with his 1993 box-office hit. Now The Firm is in business with NBC, whose new series picks up 10 years after good-guy attorney Mitch McDeere (Josh Lucas) has taken refuge in the Federal Witness Protection Program. The McDeeres have begun a new life in D.C.—but it’s soon apparent they haven’t outrun the pinstriped goons.
