58% of cat owners give their pets Christmas presents.

We’re not kitten. According to a PetFinder.com poll, plenty of Americans let furry family members in on the season of giving, spending roughly $5 billion annually in the process. It’s not all mini Santa costumes and catnip, though. Brands typically reserved for humans are getting in on the action, too. For example, Paul Mitchell’s Tearless Kitten Shampoo and Instant Detangling Spray make excellent stocking stuffers. What, you don’t hang a stocking for your kitty? Remarkably, 37 percent of cat owners do. “With cats’ childlike faces, we think of them as just another young member of the family,” says Alan Beck, director of the Center for the Human-Animal Bond at Purdue. “It’s only natural to want to extend the Christmas spirit to them.” Yes, there’s that. And they’ll barely make a peep if your gift isn’t purrfect.
