Senior execs have the No. 3 toughest job

Turns out, running into burning buildings and hauling people to safety requires a bit more effort than giving a PowerPoint presentation. But would you guess that corporate executives go home more exhausted than police officers? A new survey by careercast.com ranked the top eight demanding jobs based on work hours, stress, and physical demands. So now us lazy types know which careers to avoid, even if “roustabout”—an oilfield worker—would look impressive on our business card.

2) Surgeon

3) Senior corporate executive

4) Police officer

5) Roustabout

6) Sailor

7) General practice physician

8) Psychiatrist
