The buzz looms larger than the monsters leading up to the premiere of Where the Wild Things Are on Oct. 16. Start with director Spike Jonze returning to the big screen for the first time since 2002’s Adaptation. Now it’s an adaptation of another kind: Maurice Sendak’s classic about a boy (Max Records) sent to bed early who invents a world inhabited by strange creatures. It may look dark, but as kids know, that’s no reason to be afraid.
