A Matter of Course The letters in the shaded yellow circles, read in order line by line from the top, spell the answer to the riddle in the shaded blue lines.
Use logic to fill each of the nine squares in each row, column, and three-by-three box of these grids with a different number from 1 to 9. There is only one correct solution to each puzzle.
Each grid here contains 12 holes for you to locate in the empty spaces. Each number beside the grid indicates the number of holes in the corresponding row or column. In addition, each arrow points directly toward one or more of these holes. An arrow may be immediately next to the hole it points to, or all the way across the grid from it. Not every hole will have an arrow pointing to it.
Enter the answers to each set of clues one after the other in the grid, one letter per space, starting at the upper left and snaking back and forth to the lower right. Answers to the Combined clues will start in the appropriately numbered spaces and will fill all the spaces, while Light and Dark answers will fill only the light or the dark spaces. You must determine their starting and ending points.
We started with some familiar groups—like the seven continents—and listed all the members for each set, one per line. Then we tore away the edges, revealing only portions of each item on the list. Can you figure out the category of each list and name every item in the set?
